Estimates & Limitations
JRA by Rodor Intelligence estimates visible dimensions and value using photographs, the information you supply and market data. This page explains what that means.
What a report contains
- Estimated from your photos: ring size, the number and approximate size of visible stones, center-stone shape, and approximate metal weight. Carat and metal weights are estimates, not measurements on a scale.
- Supplied by you: metal and karat, stone grades (cut, color, clarity), natural or laboratory-grown origin, and certificate details. JRA relies on what you enter.
- Checked: the certificate check compares the certificate details you enter with the laboratory’s published record. It does not confirm that the physical item is the item on the certificate.
What JRA does not determine from a photo
Cut grade, clarity, fluorescence, treatments, metal fineness, or whether a stone is natural or laboratory-grown. For these, a grading laboratory or an appraiser examines the item itself, and you can send your report to one from inside the app.
Why every estimate is a range
Accuracy varies with photo quality, lighting, the setting style, how much of each stone is visible, and the information supplied. Every estimate is shown as a range, not a single figure.
What a report is, and is not
A JRA report is an estimate, not an appraisal. It is useful before you buy, insure, sell or meet an appraiser. When an insurer, lender, government agency, court or tax rule requires an appraisal, follow that requirement.
What is in development
A bench instrument for physical measurement, which is in development, and a provenance registry whose software is developed but activates only with that instrument. Neither is part of today’s reports.
